Senate Confirms Alake , Wike,43 Others As Ministers, Rejects El-rufai, 2 Others

The Senate has stepped down the confirmation of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Sani Abubakar Danladi (Taraba), and Stella Okotette (Delta).

Those who were confirmed are: presidential Spokesman, Dele Alake, former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Tunji-Ojo, Ali Pate and Better Edu who are now minister-designate.

The Senate confirmed the 45 people as minister-designate following days of screening.

The ministers-designate are: Abubakar Momoh, Yususf Maitama Tuggar, Ahmed Dangiwa, Hannatu Musawa, Uche Nnaji, Betta Edu, Doris Uzoka, David Umahi, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike and Muhammed Badaru Abubakar.

Others are: Ekperipe Ekpo, Nkeiruka Onyejocha, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Dele Alake, Lateef Fagbemi, Mohammad Idris, Olawale Edun, Waheed Adebayo Adelabu, Imman Suleiman Ibrahim, Ali Pate, Joseph Utsev, Abubakar Kyari, John Enoh and Sani Abubakar Danladi.

In the second batch of the ministers-designate, were all confirmed.

They include Ahmed Tijjani, Bosun Tijjani, Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, Ishak Salako, Tunji Alausa, Tanko Sununu, Adegboyega Oyetola, Atiku Bagudu, Bello Matawalle, Ibrahim Geidam, Simon Bako Lalong, Lola Adejo, Shuaibu Abubakar, Tahir Mamman, Aliyu Sabi, Alkali Ahmed, Heineken Lokpobiri, Uba Maigari, Zephaniah Jisalo and Festus Keyamo.
Speaking after the confirmation, Senate President Godswill Akpabio said el-Rufai, Sani Abubakar Danladi, and Stella Okotette are still facing security checks.
“Let me thank my colleagues for what we have done. We have confirmed 45 out of the 48 nominees sent to us by Mr President.
“Those who were not confirmed are still undergoing security checks and clearance,”Akpabio said.

Speaking to journalists, the Senate Spokesman, Yemi Adaramodu said 48 names were sent from the 36 states and a nominee from FCT which the FCT people have been yearning for.

“45 were confirmed, three others are awaiting further legislative procedures which will also depend on other organs of government,” Adaramodu said.
