Following renewed attacks and killing of innocent souls in Atyap Chiefdom, Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a Non Governmental Organization, Victor Abarshi Foundation at the weekend, re-opened moves to restore confidence and trust between the affected communities.

It would be recalled that, the Foundation had in June 2022 facilitated the signing of a commitment to peace and dialogue pact to end hostilities between the Atyap, Fulani and Hausa communities which brought about relative peace in the areas untill the resumption of attacks early this year.

Speaking during a meeting with the affected communities held separately, the Founder and initiator of the process, Mr. Victor Abarshi said the objectives of the engagement was to identify current issues of conflict between the Atyap and Fulani Communities, examine ways to mitigate the emerging conflicts and also to advocate and prepare the ground for inter-community dialogue.

He urged the participants to open and truthful in their submissions so as to expose those he believes are benefiting from the crisis in the area for their own selfish desires.

In a remark, the representative of LEGASI, one of the partners of the project, Fatima Machido, tasked the participants to always carry the messages of peace and forgiveness to their people by way of a step down training after every engagement to achieve the desired result.

Earlier, participants at the separate meetings appreciated the concern shown to bring about lasting peace in their communities by the Foundation and it’s partners, Legacy and Peace Direct, in spite the challenges.

They noted that though they are tired with the series of meetings on peace whose resolutions and recommendations are not kept, they are ready to give the recent move by the Foundation a chance.

The Intra-community Multi-stakeholders Dialogue Forum also intends to bring both parties together to frankly discuss what their real problems are with each other, and proffer lasting solutions to them.
