The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has hailed Wednesday’s court ruling affirming his leadership as a landmark endorsement of Nigeria’s multiparty system and constitutional order.
In a formal statement, Senator Mark declared that the judgment vindicates the ADC’s steadfast commitment to democratic principles, the rule of law, and the unimpeded right of citizens to political association. He asserted that democracy flourishes only when parties are free from harassment, external meddling, or attempts to subvert legitimate opposition.
“Today’s ruling reaffirms that no individual or institution stands above the law, and that the judiciary remains the ultimate sentinel of our constitutional framework,” he said.
The ADC chairman commended the bench for its courage, impartiality and unwavering fidelity to justice, characterising the verdict as a triumph for truth and the democratic yearnings of all Nigerians.
Senator Mark reiterated the party’s resolve to offer robust and credible opposition at this pivotal juncture in national life, underscoring its dedication to constitutionalism and good governance. He emphasised that the victory extends far beyond the ADC, stating: “This is not merely a party victory; it is a victory for democracy, justice and every Nigerian who believes in a vibrant political arena where ideas contend freely and the people’s will ultimately holds sway.”
Looking ahead, he urged members, supporters and patriots across the country to remain united and focused on building a stronger, more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria through peaceful democratic engagement.
