Pa Reuben Fasoranti, a prominent leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has died at the age of 100.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, announced the death of the elder statesman in a condolence message on Tuesday.
Fasoranti, who celebrated his 100th birthday on May 11, 2026, was described by the governor as a symbol of wisdom, integrity and selfless service.
Aiyedatiwa said the late Afenifere leader made lasting contributions to the development of Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria.
He added that Fasoranti’s counsel, fatherly guidance and principled stance on justice and good governance would be sorely missed.
The governor, on behalf of the Ondo State Government and its people, commiserated with the deceased’s family, the people of Akure Kingdom and the entire state.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the elder statesman’s soul.
