The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a clean sweep of all three councillorship seats contested in Tuesday’s Lagos by-elections, according to results released by the state electoral commission.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) confirmed the victories following the collation of results across the affected wards.

In Orimedu I Ward C, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Kafayat Rufai of the APC emerged victorious with 8,386 votes, defeating Samsideen Sanusi of the National Democratic Party (NDP), who managed only 27 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded no votes in the ward.

Meanwhile, in Kayode/Fadeyi Ward H of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Mushin, Samiat Shotayo of the APC clinched the seat with 3,820 votes. Her closest rival, Ifeanyi Onwenu of the ADC, polled 260 votes, while Omobolanle Shotayo of the NDP secured 28 votes.

In Bajulaye/Fola Agoro Ward F, Somolu Local Government Area, Kehinde Jolaosho of the APC triumphed with 2,546 votes, leaving Ifeanyi Anyamebechi of the ADC (157 votes) and Joseph Abalokun of the NDP (23 votes) trailing behind.

The by-elections were necessitated by the deaths of the councillors previously representing the affected wards. LASIEC underscored the importance of the exercise in sustaining democratic representation and ensuring effective grassroots governance across the local councils.
