Kaduna – Troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA have neutralised several suspected terrorists in an intelligence-led air strike on a fortified hideout in Giwa Local Government Area (LGA).

Security sources confirmed that the operation was triggered by credible intelligence regarding militant movements along the Kidandan axis, which suggested an active regrouping at a concealed location.

At approximately 5:10 PM on Monday, an aerial surveillance team deployed for intelligence, reconnaissance, and monitoring over the theatre. The sortie identified suspicious patterns, initially tracking four suspected terrorists on motorcycles. Maintaining continuous observation, operatives subsequently spotted two additional bikes navigating a route towards a known militant rendezvous point.

This persistent surveillance led forces to a hideout situated on elevated terrain within the Giwa operational theatre. The location was kept under rigorous observation to verify hostile activity and confirm the target before engagement.

Upon positive identification, the air component executed a precision strike, scoring a direct hit on the structure. While several terrorists were neutralised in the bombardment, a number of fighters reportedly fled in various directions to evade capture.

Security forces believe the raid has significantly disrupted tactical co-ordination in the region. The strike underscores the military’s ongoing commitment under Operation FANSAN YANMA to degrading insurgent capabilities, while adhering to strict protocols to minimise collateral damage to neighbouring civilian settlements.
