Police in Ogun State have launched an urgent manhunt following the brutal murder of a retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Kobape, Abeokuta.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, stating that officers were alerted after a resident raised an alarm over suspicious activities at the property. Upon arrival, detectives discovered evidence of forced entry. The guard’s body was recovered at the security post, whilst Ms Oyesiku’s remains were found inside her apartment. Her vehicle was also reported missing from the premises.

Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the double homicide, directing detectives to swiftly identify and apprehend those responsible. Intensified surveillance and intelligence-led operations are currently underway across the region.

Mr Babaseyi extended his condolences to the bereaved families, the OGTV community, and the wider media fraternity. He appealed for public calm and urged anyone with actionable information to volunteer it promptly to assist the ongoing probe.

It was gathered that armed assailants stormed the residence on Sunday morning and killed the veteran broadcaster, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan”, in cold blood. Her death has sent shockwaves through media circles, where she remained a revered figure following her retirement from the state broadcaster.
