The Federal Capital Territory chapter of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria has presented a partnership proposal to the Federal Ministry of Defence aimed at empowering youths and promoting national unity through music and entertainment.

The initiative, spearheaded by Michael Oyibo Kaycee, popularly known as Kaycee Kline, is expected to train over 3,000 youths across the FCT through mentorship, creative development and entrepreneurship programmes.

PMAN said more than 85 public and private schools within the FCT had already indicated interest in participating in the project.

According to the association, the programme is designed to use music and entertainment as tools for social reorientation, peace building and economic empowerment at a time when unemployment and social vices remain major concerns among young Nigerians.

The proposal includes music education, sound engineering, event management, stage production, talent discovery and digital entertainment marketing.

The association also proposed advocacy campaigns against drug abuse, cultism and violent extremism through music-driven community engagement initiatives.

As part of the partnership, PMAN plans to organise patriotic concerts, military entertainment tours and troop morale support programmes to strengthen civil-military relations and promote national unity.

Speaking on the initiative, the association said Nigeria’s entertainment industry had grown into a major platform for job creation and youth engagement, stressing that the sector could contribute more to national development if properly supported.

PMAN added that the project would be implemented in phases, covering stakeholder mobilisation, school-based training, workshops, mentorship sessions and performance showcases.

The association expressed confidence that the collaboration with the Ministry of Defence would create sustainable opportunities for youths while boosting the nation’s creative economy.

PMAN reaffirmed its commitment to national development through music and culture, while urging the Federal Government to support initiatives capable of positively engaging Nigerian youths.
