Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its state governors of diverting public funds to finance political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released by his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku alleged that the APC-led administration of President Bola Tinubu is colluding with governors to channel public resources into “dedicated accounts” for the President’s re-election bid.
He warned that the misappropriation is worsening Nigeria’s economic hardship, insecurity, and poverty, with citizens bearing the brunt of what he called systemic mismanagement of national resources.
“The Tinubu-led APC administration is in cahoots with APC governors to divert your resources to dedicated accounts for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign,” Atiku said, stressing that funds meant for governance and public welfare are being redirected for political purposes.
He further noted that internal disputes within the APC Governors’ Forum—particularly over the handling of Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funds—stem from disagreements on how to access and manage the alleged diverted revenues.
