The Arewa Youths for Peace and Security have asked the National Security Adviser to sanction the leadership of the Military Pension Board over what they described as an overreach of authority.

In a statement on Tuesday, the group said a Wing Commander, acting on superior instructions, contacted a security analyst who appeared on a live programme on Arise TV at about 12:30pm on April 13, 2026.

The group expressed surprise that shortly after the television appearance, the analyst received a call from the Military Pension Board requesting his presence for “clarifications”.

According to the group, the issues raised by the analyst relate to the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief, stressing that the board has no powers to interfere in such matters.

They alleged that the board’s actions amounted to an abuse of authority, particularly by “depriving a presidential appointee access to office”, which they described as an affront to the Presidency.

The statement further criticised the board for issuing a formal invitation letter to the analyst, describing it as unnecessary and an attempt to ridicule the situation.

“The guest was invited by a television station and did not act independently. If there are concerns, the board should engage the organisations whose statements were referenced,” the group said.

Secretary-General of the group, Salihu Dantata Mahmud, maintained that the analyst has the right to express opinions on national issues already in the public domain.

He noted that such discussions have been widely reported by the News Agency of Nigeria and broadcast on the Nigerian Television Authority.

Mahmud reiterated the group’s commitment to nation-building and the protection of citizens’ rights.

“We call on the Military Pension Board to focus on its statutory responsibilities and refrain from meddling in public discourse,” he added.
