In a powerful tribute to one of Nigeria’s most influential indigenous energy leaders, the Northern Stakeholders Forum of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has publicly celebrated the humanitarian and entrepreneurial legacy of Engineer Tein Teibo Seliyefubara Jack-Rich on the occasion of his 51st birthday. The group heralded the Belema Oil Producing Limited founder as a visionary whose extensive philanthropy and dedication to human capital development continue to transform communities nationwide.

Issued in Kaduna and signed by Forum Chairman Mr Bagudu Joseph and Secretary Comrade Almustapha Asuku, the formal statement frames Jack-Rich’s life narrative as a quintessential lesson in resilience, discipline, and selfless service. It asserts that his achievements offer a critical blueprint for Nigerian youth, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds.

A Journey Forged in Adversity

The forum’s communiqué meticulously charted the oil magnate’s origins. Born on 28 January 1975 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Jack-Rich was orphaned at a young age. Confronting this profound early setback, he demonstrated exceptional resolve, channelling his energy into academic and personal advancement. His foundational qualifications in engineering technology and marketing were later bolstered by executive leadership programmes at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, including Harvard Business School, the University of Cambridge, and the London School of Economics.

This formidable educational background, the youth stakeholders noted, laid the groundwork for a business career that would reshape Nigeria’s indigenous oil and gas sector.

Entrepreneurial Rise and Industrial Impact

Jack-Rich’s commercial journey commenced in 1998 with the establishment of J+G Global Gas and Oilfield Limited. This venture served as the critical precursor to his seminal achievement: founding Belema Oil Producing Limited. Under his leadership, Belema Oil gained distinction as Nigeria’s first fully indigenous oil exploration and production company, a landmark feat in an industry historically dominated by international majors.

With over 25 years of sector experience, the forum emphasised that Jack-Rich has consistently intertwined corporate success with profound social responsibility. His business philosophy, they stated, explicitly links enterprise growth with transformative community interventions.

The Philanthropic Footprint: Water, Health, Education, and Agriculture

The core of the tribute centred on the tangible outcomes of Jack-Rich’s philanthropic vision. The forum detailed a wide-ranging portfolio of humanitarian projects designed to alleviate poverty and build sustainable infrastructure.

Key initiatives highlighted include the deployment of solar-powered water facilities across numerous communities, directly addressing the acute challenge of clean water access. His contributions to healthcare are equally substantial, encompassing the construction and equipping of hospitals and primary healthcare centres.

In education and agriculture, his interventions are strategically aimed at long-term empowerment. The building and support of schools complement advanced agricultural mechanisation schemes. These programmes are engineered to empower smallholder farmers, boost food security, and stimulate local economies—a holistic approach to development that has earned widespread recognition.

National and Traditional Accolades

The statement further underscored the national and traditional honours bestowed upon Jack-Rich in acknowledgment of his service. Most notably, he was nominated for the prestigious national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) by former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

In a deeply symbolic cultural recognition, the Daura Emirate in Katsina State conferred upon him the traditional title of Sarkin Ruwan Hausa (Water Provider). This title directly reflects his extensive projects aimed at water provision and community development in the northern region and beyond.

A Family Legacy of Service

The forum also acknowledged the role of Jack-Rich’s family in sustaining this culture of giving. He is married to Dr Elizabeth Jack-Rich, a Harvard-trained entrepreneur and philanthropist in her own right. Together, the statement noted, the family remains steadfastly committed to humanitarian causes, amplifying the scale and impact of their social initiatives across Nigeria.

A Call to Nigerian Youth

In closing, the Northern Youth Stakeholders extended heartfelt wishes to Engr. Jack-Rich for continued health and many more years of impactful service. More importantly, they issued a clarion call to Nigerian youth, urging them to emulate the discipline, resilience, and unwavering commitment to nation-building exemplified by his life.

They posited Jack-Rich as the definitive model of responsible leadership and purposeful success—a individual who has mastered the art of converting personal achievement into broad societal progress. His story, from orphaned beginnings to becoming a nationally honoured industrialist and philanthropist, stands not merely as an inspiration but as a practical testament to the transformative power of education, enterprise, and altruism.

As Nigeria continues to navigate complex developmental challenges, the forum concluded, the Jack-Rich paradigm offers a compelling roadmap: that sustainable advancement is best achieved when private sector acumen is seamlessly married to a profound, actionable commitment to the public good.
