Fatima succumbed to her injuries yesterday at a specialist hospital hospital in Jalingo, eight days after being stabbed by her boyfriend. The attack occurred the day before Sallah, following a confrontation near a roadside where the suspect allegedly saw Fatima standing with another young man.

According to reports, the suspect, believing the young man to be romantically involved with Fatima, demanded she leave and return home. When Fatima refused, the suspect reportedly returned home, retrieved a knife, and attacked both individuals. Fatima was stabbed in the abdomen, while the young man sustained a chest wound.

Fatima was rushed to a hospital, where she fought for her life for eight days before passing away. The young man is currently receiving treatment at Special Hospital Jalingo and remains under medical care.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect is at large, with efforts ongoing to apprehend him. The incident has left the community in mourning, with many expressing shock and grief over the loss of the young woman.

The deceased cousin who confirmed the news to our correspondent asserted that “I am heartbroken and devastated to hear that my dear cousin Fatima was brutally stabbed by her boyfriend. No one should ever endure such violence, while demanding justice for this horrific act.”
