A 19-year-old man has been taken into custody by the Adamawa State Police Command for the suspected murder of his three-day-old baby in the Mubi North Local Area.

According to Police Spokesman SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspect was detained on November 8 after the child’s mother, who is also his girlfriend, reported the incident.

Nguroje explained that the mother accused the suspect of killing their newborn shortly after her delivery. Preliminary investigations revealed that after she gave birth, she contacted the suspect to visit.

On the night of the incident, the suspect allegedly sent the mother on an errand, took the baby, and subsequently strangled her. He then buried the infant’s body in the Girpata area of Mubi.

In response to the severity of the case, Commissioner of Police Morris Dankombo has directed that the investigation be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further examination.
