The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, Dr. Ademola Iyanda Ebeloku, has declared that workers remain the principal source of development and progress in every human society.

In a statement issued on Thursday to mark the 2026 International Workers’ Day, Dr Ebeloku extended his congratulations to the entire workforce in Nigeria and across the globe. He noted that through their dedication and labour, societies are transformed and made better for all.

“Workers, from time immemorial, have been a source for development and progress in any human society. Through their sweats and labour, societies are transformed and made better for all to live,” the statement read.

Speaking on behalf of the Governing Council, Academic Board, management, staff, and students of the institution, the Rector specifically acknowledged the efforts of the polytechnic’s employees.

“I wish to salute and acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the entire staff of Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, for their resilience, steadfastness, unalloyed cooperation, and unwavering commitment towards promoting the laudable vision and mission of our cherished institution,” he said.

Dr Ebeloku also commended the cooperation of the institution’s three workers’ unions – ASUP, SSANIP, and NASU – for sustaining peaceful coexistence and maintaining industrial harmony. He expressed hope that this spirit of camaraderie would continue.

“As we mark this day, let us project ahead for a glorious future where the voices of our workers would be heard, and their labour would not be in vain, but be rewarded without let or hindrance,” he added.
