The zeal and courage of Barrister Nzenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT to attract developments to all areas remained unwavering, particularly the ones that affected the sane and good livelihood of the nation’s residents and the area councils.
Therefore, the new policy of attracting renewable energy know as “Solar Street Lights ” on every newly constructed streets and roads in the territory has become a norm , which has improved not only security, environment and the beauty of the roads rehabilitated and reconstructed across the territory, including the area councils, and also addressed criminal activities.
A visit to the six area councils of Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali, Abaji, AMAC and Bwari has clearly showed the provision of renewable energy / solar street lights across all nooks and crannies of the new roads and by extension strategic areas and even hamlet in the councils.
Aside mounting solar street lights on the newly reconstructed and rehabilitated roads across the nation’s city and area councils,to improve security of lives and properties, address criminalities and other vices, the FCT Minister has developed a culture of providing solar street lights across the areas , as this was different from establishing solar farms in strategic areas of the nation’s city to improve the daily lives activities particularly at nights.
The recent decision to replace obsolete, many decades and archaic street lights in the nation’s city powered by the highly scarce and costly diesel fuel running through the popular city gate , entrance to the city and the nation’s International airport, known as Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport is commendable in all ramifications.
Mounted many decades ago and undergoing constant repairs that had defied maintenance culture adopted by the Minister of FCT, Nzenwo Nyesom Wike ,CON in the last two years of his ascension to the leadership of the city , wike’s decision before the yuletide to replace and lighten up the major roads that run through Umar Musa Yar’adua way to the nation’s city is back to life , as motorists at night enjoyed hybrid solar street lights even without bright lights on their vehicles.
The gesture did not cover only the main roads, but provision was also made for the pedestrian areas known as the “service lane” on both roads spanning to the nation’s city, leading to Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.
The timely decision of the administration of Nzenwo Nyesom Wike, CON to replace the over four decades , outdated and manual street lights running for about fifty kilometers range, has broken the record of persistent insecurities ranging from kidnapping, one chance , night robberies, car snatching among other vices on this corridor going forward.
With the newly installed hybrid solar security lights , Wike has begin the execution of installing solar street lights on all the streets of the nation’s city, area councils as promised by the Minister on ascension of duty .
As part of his mandate , aside raiding the hot spots of criminals of various vices in the FCT, the policy and culture of installing the devices will reduce to the barest minimum the embarrassment been faced by people going about their normal activities in the hands of criminals and criminal elements.
All hands must be on deck to join hands with the Wike led administration in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT to checkmate the activities of vandals , disgruntled elements who goes about removing public properties and conversion to private use , as it was applicable to manhole replaced across FCT and removed by same people.
The zeal to develop the FCT ,so as to bring the nation’s city to the status of developing countries and well organized countries around the world cannot be overemphasized.
