A viral video has captured the moment social media critic Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly referred to as Mr Jollof, became embroiled in a physical altercation aboard a commercial flight, as fellow passengers, including comedian Funny Bone, rushed to separate them.

The footage, shared by Facebook user Dr Paul Ezikel on Monday, depicted the pair trading blows inside a United Nigeria Airlines flight reportedly travelling from Asaba, Delta State, to Lagos.

VDM and Mr Jollof have a history of online disputes, with tensions escalating after VDM accused the comedian’s wife of engaging in affairs with internet fraudsters, a claim that ignited widespread controversy.

Confirming the altercation, VDM took to his Facebook page shortly after the incident, boasting that he had “dealt with” Mr Jollof.

In a follow-up video, he lifted his shirt to reveal bite marks on his torso, stating, “He bit me… a man who bites, he has no shame. They begged him. I got on the plane, saw him, and said, ‘You’re going to slap me today.’ I approached him, and he punched me. He has ruined my tattoo now with his unbrushed teeth.” He also mocked the comedian, adding, “I’ve eaten Jollof’s father on the plane.”

In response to the incident, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), issued a statement on X requesting details to assist with an investigation.
