The spokesperson for the command, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, announced this in a statement released on Monday in Birnin Kebbi.

He reported that at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Monday, information was received regarding a group of armed bandits, equipped with advanced weaponry and firing indiscriminately, who invaded the school.

Mr Abubakar stated that police tactical units dispatched to the school engaged the attackers in a gunfight.

“Regrettably, the bandits had already scaled the school fence and abducted 25 students from their hostel to an unknown location.

“Additionally, one Hassan Makuku was shot dead, while one Ali Shehu sustained an injury to his right hand,” he said.

He further mentioned that following the report, a combined team of additional police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes was sent to the area and began searching the routes used by the bandits and nearby forests, with the aim of rescuing the students and apprehending the culprits.

Mr Abubakar emphasised the police commissioner, Bello Sani’s, commitment to protecting the lives and property of the state’s residents.

He urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and to continue supporting security efforts to ensure peace and stability.
