Tinubu’s Campaign Team: A Gathering of Sycophants and Failed Politicians, Says APM

The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) has dismissed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recently unveiled campaign council as a collection of discredited “yes men” and politically bankrupt figures who lack the public trust, loyalty, and credibility required to secure electoral victory in 2027.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the party described the list as populated predominantly with sycophants, ideological turncoats, and ethically compromised individuals—including former governors recently publicly booed in Osun State and politicians allegedly seeking refuge from corruption charges.

Yusuf argued that the composition of the council confirms the party’s long-held position that President Tinubu, given his poor governance record, cannot command the support of well-meaning Nigerians. He singled out the appointment of former Zamfara State Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari as Campaign Director General, noting that under Yari’s tenure, banditry and mass killings escalated, the national minimum wage was ignored, and youth unemployment, out-of-school children, and living standards reached alarming lows.

“If after three and a half years in office, President Tinubu cannot assemble a credible team, it is evident he has no business leading a nation as complex as Nigeria,” Yusuf stated.

The APM further asserted that no patriotic citizen could conscientiously campaign for an administration that has overseen the deaths of no fewer than 628,000 Nigerians and the abduction of over 2.2 million others, including children, within the same period. The party also blamed the administration’s ill-conceived economic policies for crippling productive sectors, pushing over 140 million citizens below the poverty line, and driving unemployment above 33 percent.

Describing the Tinubu campaign as “dead on arrival,” the APM pointed to the recent Osun governorship election as a precursor of the President’s electoral fortunes in 2027.

The party contrasted Tinubu’s record with that of its own presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, whom it described as a credible alternative commanding widespread popular support. Makinde’s blueprint, the APM said, prioritises inclusive human development, security, industrialisation, mass youth employment, infrastructural renewal, and prudent resource management.

“Nigerians should not despair over President Tinubu’s campaign list,” Yusuf urged. “They should instead focus on the new beginning they desire under a Makinde–Daura presidency.”

The APM called on citizens to reject the incumbent and embrace what it termed a transparent, people-first governance model.
