Mr. Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media for President Bola Tinubu, emphasized that the President remains undistracted by discussions surrounding the 2027 presidential election. Bwala made these remarks on Wednesday during a press briefing at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja.

He highlighted that President Tinubu is currently dedicated to effective governance and fulfilling his commitments to the Nigerian populace. Bwala stated that the President is concentrating on addressing pressing issues that affect citizens, particularly in the fight against hunger.

“Now is not the time for political maneuvering. When the appropriate moment arrives, we will be prepared,” he noted. He added that Tinubu’s ongoing initiatives are designed to resonate positively with Nigerians, fostering support for a potential second term. Bwala expressed confidence that Tinubu possesses the necessary qualifications under the Constitution to seek re-election, and, health permitting, he aims to pursue this path.

Regarding concerns that the APC might feel anxious about the recent electoral victory of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana, Bwala asserted that such circumstances are unlikely to replicate in Nigeria. He pointed out that Nigerians are acutely aware of the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

“Nigerians prioritize their daily realities over political affiliations,” he remarked. “Their main concern is whether their immediate needs are being addressed, irrespective of race or background.”

The Presidential Aide expressed optimism that Nigerians will continue to support Tinubu, citing widespread commendations from various regions of the country. Bwala, who was appointed on November 14, dismissed claims of being marginalized within the presidency, asserting that he has been effectively fulfilling his responsibilities.

Having previously served as the spokesperson for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, Bwala transitioned to the APC shortly after. He clarified that while he has not been in contact with Atiku since then, he holds no grievances against him.
