Vice President Kashim Shettima has formally submitted President Bola Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms to the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging Nigerians to support a second term for the President.
Speaking on Thursday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, Shettima argued that Tinubu has demonstrated the capacity to steer Nigeria out of its prolonged economic and social challenges.
The Vice President called on APC governors and members of the National Assembly to rally behind the President’s candidature, citing the positive outcomes of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Through thick and thin, Tinubu has proved his mettle and shown the world that his capacity and resolve to pull the nation out of the woods remain unfazed,” Shettima said. “The socio-economic impacts have been phenomenal.”
Acknowledging the difficulty of certain government decisions, Shettima insisted they were necessary to stabilise the economy and secure the nation’s future.
“He has steered this ship through turbulent waters with courage. The storms of the past years have not diminished him; they have made a fine sailor out of him,” the Vice President added.
House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas applauded Tinubu’s leadership, stating that his bold reforms had placed the country on a path to recovery and prosperity.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and Progressives Governors Forum Chairman, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, also endorsed the President’s re-election bid, citing tangible performance across critical sectors.
“Every citizen has a role to play in protecting the hope of Nigeria,” Shettima concluded.
