The chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Northern Nigeria, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, has clarified that there was never a bomb in Living Faith Church, Kaduna in 2020 but a misinformation of facts.

Speaking at the burial of the suspect, Nathaniel Samuel, who recently died in Kaduna, Hayab explained that the young man went to the church with fireworks which he could not carry home after attending a wedding the previous day.

According to him, “The boy (suspected bomber) went to a wedding with the fireworks on Saturday and the wedding lasted too long, he left, he could not carry it in the night and choice to go back on Sunday in the morning to carry it along with him. When he picked it, he went to church with it and when he wanted to urinate, he left it to go and ease himself.

“On sighting it, alarm was raised that it was a bomb and the police took it, did a thorough search on the boy but later learnt that it was not a bomb but fireworks, but because it was a national issue, the police could not keep the boy in Kaduna, he was transferred to Abuja.”

The CAN chairman explained that after a thorough checking, the police did not find anything to incriminate him but had to set him free.

Hayab stated that people need to be thorough in everything they do in order to be sure of what they are doing and not ending up putting innocent souls to suffer for something they know nothing about.

He explained that after the boy was set free, it was discovered that the boy was into drugs and needed to be rehabilitated, stressing that he helped in taking the boy to rehabilitation center and later took him to a mechanic shop to further learn what he had previously learned some years ago.

Hayab said that it was the reason following his involvements with the boy up to the time he later died that he accepted to do his burial with the information he knows about him.

According to Hayab, “In spite of the challenges the boy went through, he struggled to ensure he made a living by struggling to earn a living and be a man of himself in life.”

He reiterated that there was never a bomb in Living Faith Church, Kaduna but lack of proper clarification to ascertain what the boy carried that day to church believing that it was nothing incriminating but pure fireworks.

A member of the Living Faith Church, Paul Endmadu, confessed that he worked with Nathaniel Samuel in the church before the incident of alleging him a suspected bomber.

Representatives of Pastors from the Living Faith Church attended the burial of Nathaniel Samuel confirming the deceased as a member of the church in Kaduna.
