Salim, whose address was read by the Rivers State Coordinator of SON, Dr. Samuel Ayuba said: “This event, which has brought together all the relevant stakeholders in our midst is in line with SON’s mandate for quality assurance and standardization.

“As the Apex standard body in Nigeria, coordinating all standardization activities, in close collaboration with stakeholders; whe we talk about stakeholders, we are talking about manufacturers, service providers, consumer associations, different sectoral associations, as well as oil servicing companies, oil producing companies. All these are the stakeholders.

“SON is vested with the responsibility of formulating, issuing and enforcing Nigeria’s industrial standards and that is what we call standardization. Once there are standards, their must be implementation of the standards as well as enforcement.

In his presentation, Director of the National Methologocal Institute (NMI), Engr. Bede Obayi, said the efforts to launch the mobile calibration vehicle and measuring equipments in Rivers State started since 2008.

Obayi said: ” The journey to what we are witnessing today has been a long one but continuous one, starting from 2008 to date.
