A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, has unveiled Senator Sandy Onor as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The former Cross River State governorship candidate was announced during a ceremony on Tuesday at the party’s Wadata Plaza headquarters in Abuja. Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, who chaired the PDP Presidential Primaries Collation Committee, made the declaration following the collation of primary results.

According to the committee, the selection process involved broad consultations and voice votes across various states. Senator Onor had earlier declared his intention to run and purchased his expression of interest and nomination forms this month.

Ortom said the committee reached its decision after engaging party members from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. He later presented Onor as the faction’s consensus candidate.

Following the announcement, the PDP National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, presented a certificate of return and the party’s flag to Onor.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including National Commissioners Abdullahi Zuru and Prof. Rhoda Habor Gumus, monitored the exercise at the party’s national secretariat.

Details to follow.
