House of Representatives aspirant for Jaba–Zangon Kataf Federal Constituency, Rijo Shekari, has received the blessings of the paramount ruler of Bajju Chiefdom, His Royal Highness, Agwam Bajju II, Luka Kogi Yàbuwat, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at his temporary palace in Zonkwa on October 1, the monarch hailed Shekari as a “worthy son of Kajju” whose contributions to community development remain remarkable.
The royal father listed some of Shekari’s interventions to include the construction of boreholes, scholarships for indigent students, empowerment programmes for widows, and the establishment of the headquarters of Kamrum Integrated Farms in Kamrum village.
“He is a worthy son that deserves our blessings,” Agwam Luka Kogi declared, while urging him to remain steadfast in his service to Bajjuland.
The blessing was jointly conferred on Shekari by the five kingmakers of Bajju land, district and village heads, title holders, and representatives of the Bajju Development Association (BADA).
Mr. James David, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, said their support was a symbolic gesture, stressing that Shekari has proven integrity and a strong record in human capital and community development.
Also speaking, Marafan Bajju, Christopher Yanshiye, who represented the Traditional Council, commended Shekari for seeking royal blessings before embarking on his political journey.
The District Head of Kamrum, Mr. Obadiah Obi, further described Shekari as a leader with qualities befitting the aspirations of Kajju people.
In his response, Shekari expressed gratitude to the traditional council and the Bajju community, pledging not to disappoint them if given the mandate in 2027.
“I will work diligently for the progress and development of Kajju land and beyond,” he said.
