The Member Representing Zango/Jaba Federal Constituency, Hon Amos Gwamna Magaji, has facilitated the construction of a multi-billion naira bridge, bringing much-needed relief to the vulnerable communities of Atyap Chiefdom in Kaduna State. The bridge aims to provide a safer and more accessible route for residents who have been victims of constant attacks.
The construction site, stretching from Magwafan village to Kibori village, will connect over 20 communities in the Zango Kataf Local Government Area, bordering the Kauru and Kachia Local Government Areas. This project is expected to alleviate the suffering and boost the economic livelihood of the locals.
Abel Shinkut, a local resident, shared the tragic stories of women and children losing their lives while crossing the river to neighboring villages during the attacks. The completion of the bridge will not only provide physical relief but also contribute to the healing and recovery of these affected communities.
The Paramount Chief of the Atyap People, Mr. Dominic Gambo Yahaya, expressed his gratitude for the project, stating that it has rekindled hope and restored confidence in the communities. He emphasized the significance of the bridge in improving accessibility, enhancing security, and fostering development in the region.
Hon. Amos Gwamna, the Rep Member, revealed that the idea for the N3.5 billion bridge project originated during his re-election campaign. He recognized the urgent need for a bridge to reduce travel time and improve connectivity for the communities. Despite the challenges and ambitious nature of the project, he remained determined to fulfill his promise.
The bridge construction is expected to combat insecurity by enabling quicker response times from security agencies and facilitating access to the affected areas. The support of the state government and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has been instrumental in making this project a reality.
This initiative signifies a significant step towards rebuilding and restoring the lives of the affected communities. The completion of the bridge will not only enhance transportation but also serve as a symbol of resilience and unity in the face of adversity.
