The attention of management has been drawn to an on – line report by the SAHARA REPORTERS on Monday July 7, 2025 titled FHA Staff Petition EFCC, Accuse Tinubu’s In – Law of Abuse of Office, Bragging About Being ‘Untouchable’.
While management would have ignored this piece of irresponsible journalism, it is has however become pertinent to inform the general public of the antics of attention seekers, disgruntled persons, league of fraudsters and land grabbers, whose channels of nefarious activities in Federal Housing Authority have been blocked by the innovations brought by management led by Hon Oyetunde Ojo in one year in office.
A read through the article exposes spurious and ‘wishy – washy’ contraptions that cannot be substantiated, an epitome of Yellow journalism, a genre Sahara Reporters are known for. Among the quixotic allegations according to Sahara Reporters are questionable property acquisitions, illicit contract awards, excessive hotel expenditures, abuse of land administration process and sidelining the supervising minister and other executive leadership.
For the records, on assumption of office on 16 February 2024, Hon Ojo was far from pleased with what he met in the Authority. He was disappointed that FHA was still operating analogue in the 21st century, a system that created the loopholes for the many sharp practices prevalent then in the Authority.
By 1st of May 2024, he launched FHA’S digitization and ended all analogue operations of the Authority’s property files. This new era not only ended the incessant loss of property files, double allocations and forgery but ensured the protection of property documents and increased the speed of service delivery.
Management under him immediately embarked on land drive and acquisition, and has visited 28 states of the country where lands have been acquired, and in most cases free of charge and compensations paid. It is worthy to note that 95% of the visits were done by road.
Hon Ojo found it repugnant that FHA with a lot of assets remained financially unstable. He noticed that rampant abuse of development control in all of FHA estates. There several cases of illegal land annexations, building without or outside approval and gross under payment and valuation of the Authority’s statutory charges.
To address these issues, he immediately constituted several committees on Development Control and Revenue drive, commenced a nationwide verification exercise where window of opportunity were provided to property owners to regularize their property documents.
The MD went on to constitute and Enforcement team set up to ensure compliance of Development Control directives and opted to be the leader of the team. The team has worked in all zones of the country.
For accurate and proper account of FHA’S property, Hon Ojo acquired a MAX 350 drone for the Authority with which every single property of the Authority has been identified, all illegally encroached and annexed lands identified.
From the onset, the FHA Chief Executive made it clear that management was not after any body’s property, but was after proper regularization and commensurate payment for the Authority’s land.
Through this effort, the Authority’s revenue profile increased tremendously and reflects on staff welfare. FHA was among the first to implement the new National minimum wage. The Authority under Hon Ojo steadily pays all remunerations and emoluments.
FHA under this management has witnessed rise in Human Capital development, where staff are continuously trained both locally and internationally. The Authority is nearing full digitalization in all operations, and staff are operating under maximum comfort in the most conducive work environment.
Management under Hon Ojo became the first in the Authority to connect all the Zonal offices real time. Staff of the head office could communicate real time with zonal staff through the internet.
Hon Ojo as the Managing Director resumes work by 7.45 am and closes by 10 pm. To check truancy and engender punctuality, the Authority under his management has introduced the Clocking machine which, the MD complies with.
It is also on records that Hon Oyetunde ojo and his Executive Management Team are among the few, if any in the country that do not drive SUVS, but chose to adopt Hilux vehicles as official cars.
It therefore becomes curious where these imaginary staff manufactured their spurious allegations from. Conclusively, these unfounded allegations are the hand work of cabals, both within and without, whose conduit pipes of illegality and corrupt practices have been blocked by the Hon Ojo.
The real staff of Federal Housing Authority are solidly behind management led by Hon Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, who is on a mission of taking FHA from the doldrums of a decaying and low impact agency to a high performing institution.
