The Ondo police command says it has arrested a cleric identified as Oluwafemi Idris over alleged possession of human body parts.

Abayomi Oladipo, Ondo commissioner of police (CP), said the command received an intel from a reliable source in January 2024, that Idris popularly known as “Alfa” in his area, kept human parts in his home and intends to use them for ritual purposes.

He said the police swung into action and apprehended the suspect, noting that parts including hands, three kidneys, three hearts, spine and tongue were found in his possession during a search on his apartment in Akoko.

“The suspect claimed he is an Islamic cleric and some of the human parts were supplied by his friend, an Alhaji who is also a cleric, and one Samuel Kutelu, while he supplied one Babatunde Kayode ( an Oluawo) 3 human heads,” Oladipo said.

“The said Oluawo and Babatunde Kayode have been arrested. Effort is on to arrest the other cleric who he claims sourced the human parts for him.”

In a related development, the police arrested a suspected notorious motorcycle snatcher in the state.

The police also said it recovered a body allegedly killed by the motorcycle snatcher.

“It was the work of the devil, I can’t explain because the deceased was my close friend. Truly, his bike is not the first bike I will ever snatch but I have never killed before,” the suspect reportedly said during interrogation.

“Even those that are not related to me, I snatched bike from them and I didn’t harm them, but this one is just a coincidence.”

The CP called on members of the public, particularly motorcycle riders, to be mindful of the types of persons they carry and the terrains they enter with their motorcycles, noting that the command is intensifying efforts to get everyone connected to the crime arrested and prosecuted.
