The National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has officially ratified the nomination of Comrade Obidah Bitrus as the Acting Chairman of the party in Taraba State, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining stable leadership structures across state chapters.
The approval, which took place on December 2, 2025, follows a formal review by the NWC and was communicated in a statement issued by the National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan. According to Shan, the decision is in strict compliance with Section 35 (3)(c) of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017, which outlines procedures for filling leadership vacancies within the party.
The NWC directive mandates Comrade Bitrus to immediately assume office and discharge all constitutional duties required of the Acting State Chairman, ensuring continuity in party administration, coordination of party activities, and preparation for upcoming political engagements in the state.
Party officials describe the move as timely and strategic, aimed at strengthening internal cohesion and enhancing the PDP’s operational readiness in Taraba. The appointment is expected to bring renewed focus to grassroots mobilization, membership coordination, and reconciliation efforts within the state chapter.
The announcement was endorsed and signed by the Taraba State Secretary of the PDP, Siman Musa Istifanus, Esq., who urged party members to support the new acting chairman in fulfilling his mandate.
