Grassroots PDP members and 147 councillor aspirants from every ward in Zamfara State have accused the governor Dauda Lawal of “cold-blooded betrayal” and “politics of ingratitude”.

Gathering in Gusau under the leadership of veteran party organiser Buhari Buba Mai Goro, the group issued what they called a “final warning” to the state’s chief executive.

“We are not here to beg — we are here to warn,” Mai Goro said. “Without the council aspirants and ward mobilisers from all 147 wards, there would be no PDP government today.”

He accused the governor of abandoning loyal party workers who risked their lives in violent, bandit-plagued areas and spent their own money to mobilise voters.

“Today, we have been cast aside like strangers,” he said.

Naziru Abdullahi from Kaura Namoda ,said “We built the foundation Governor Dauda is now standing on, yet he has chosen to spit on it. This is betrayal of the highest order.”

The group claims the governor has surrounded himself with political opportunists who were absent during the campaign, leaving committed party members shut out of decision-making.

“If he thinks the grassroots will stay silent, he is mistaken. The same hands that lifted him to power can pull him down,” Mai Goro warned.

They called on the PDP’s national leadership to step in immediately, warning that Zamfara’s ruling party is “sitting on a political time bomb”.

“A leader who abandons his soldiers after victory,” the statement said, “is not fit to lead them into the next battle.”
