The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), has vowed to place more emphasizes on the promotion of local content and talent in the engineering sector in the country.
Chairman of NSE, Port Harcourt Branch, Engr. Isarsoari Ateke, disclosed this in Port Harcourt yesterday when he led the executive committee of the group on a visit to managing director of BG Technical Limited, Chief Geoffrey Onuoha.
Ateke stated that the development of local content is a key priority for the engineering sector in Nigeria, which will enhanced local production of goods product and services.
She said: “NSE places a strong emphasis on promoting local content and talent.

The NSE chairman announced that the branch will be organizing the local content workshop this year, and urged engineering companies operating in the state to participate actively.
Responding, Chief Geoffrey Onuoha, who was represented by the chief operating officer (COO) of the company, Engr. Udoka Onuoha, expressed his eagerness to participate in the upcoming NSE conference and pledged support and sponsorship where necessary, underscoring the Company’s dedication to advancing engineering excellence.
Onuoha, who reiterated the company’s mandate to promote sustainable practices and upscale renewable professional engineering efforts, emphasized the necessity of collaboration to achieve these ambitious goals.
He stated the BGT has engineers working with them notable among them is Engr. Dr. Izionworu Vincent Onuegbu (FNSE) who although is a Lecturer in Rivers State University, serves as consultant Coordinating BGT’s Quality Assurance /Quality Control.
