The Northern Christian Leaders Religious Assembly (NOCRELA), Kaduna State chapter, has called on Nigerians to unite in prayer for a peaceful and transparent transition of power in the 2027 general elections.

During a National Day of Prayer session held on Tuesday in Kaduna under the theme “Heal our land, oh Lord,” the group’s chairman, Rev. Akila J. Vivian, emphasised the critical role of prayer in securing credible leadership at all levels of governance.

“It is only when we have good leaders that our country will witness tremendous transformation in all spheres of life,” Rev. Vivian stated. “Nigerians will again be restored to their lost glory, where people will be free to conduct their normal businesses and enhance their standards of living.”

The cleric decried the nation’s deteriorating security situation, attributing the crisis to leadership failures in addressing citizens’ most fundamental needs—the protection of lives and property.

“Insecurity has made life exceedingly difficult. Nigerians can no longer travel between states to conduct business. Farmers have abandoned their farms, leading to food scarcity that places basic sustenance beyond the reach of ordinary citizens,” he lamented.

“Traders no longer travel to buy or sell, and goods have become prohibitively expensive for the common man,” he added.

Rev. Vivian stressed that the prayer gathering was convened to seek divine mercy and intervention for God-fearing leaders who would restore the nation’s fortunes.

The prayer session focused on several critical areas: Nigeria’s security challenges, national peace and unity, the integrity of the 2027 electoral process, and divine guidance for the executive, legislature, judiciary, community leaders, religious figures, political stakeholders, and traditional institutions.
