A federal lawmaker has declared that Southern Kaduna currently lacks any meaningful political opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing overwhelming grassroots support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Dan Amos, who represents Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency and chairs the House Committee on House Services, made the remarks shortly after concluding a ward tour across Sanga and Jema’a local government areas. Speaking at his constituency office in Kafanchan, he said the massive turnout during the tour reflected growing public confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and the APC.
“We moved around together, and what we witnessed was obvious for all to see. The people came out in large numbers to endorse us for another term,” Amos stated.
He credited recent political developments—including defections to the APC and the growing influence of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung (Kaduna South)—with reshaping the region’s political landscape. “People are now aligning based on performance, inclusiveness, and development. That is why the APC continues to gain ground.”
According to the lawmaker, visible projects such as the Federal University, a proposed Federal Medical Centre, and key government appointments for Southern Kaduna indigenes have demonstrated the ruling party’s impact. “These are opportunities that many once thought impossible.”
He described the enthusiastic reception across communities as “sincere and genuine appreciation,” adding: “As for the opposition, from what we have seen so far, there is virtually no serious opposition on the ground in Southern Kaduna.”
Amos attributed his performance to humility, accessibility, and consistent engagement, pledging that another term would consolidate achievements and deliver further development. He urged party members to remain united, stressing that continuity was vital for the region’s progress.
“We will continue to work together, irrespective of political or religious differences. The focus remains on development, empowerment, and ensuring Southern Kaduna gets its fair share in governance,” he said.
