On Saturday, an individual named Njimogu Ikedi attempted to visit an inmate, hiding items believed to be cannabis sativa and other psychoactive substances within his clothing. The contraband was discovered during a routine inspection conducted by the on-duty personnel.

The statement noted that Christopher Jen, the controller of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command, ordered the immediate detention of the suspect. Furthermore, he instructed that Ikedi be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and prosecution. Jen cautioned visitors with malicious intentions against such actions, assuring that the vigilant staff of the Service would persist in exposing any illicit activities.

Additionally, the controller encouraged the public and concerned Nigerians to support the NCoS in its mission to reform and rehabilitate offenders, ultimately enhancing public safety.

This incident follows a similar occurrence in July 2024, where a woman was apprehended for attempting to smuggle suspected psychoactive substances into the same facility.
