As part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts to diversify the economy through the use of innovation and engineering resources in the country, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) on Thursday 30th March, 2023 in Abuja signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Medical Sciences Africa (IMSA) for the
production of some of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) equipment and consumables in Nigeria.

A statement issued by the Special Assistant on Social Media to the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive, Peter T. Ewu, said the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) was represented by the Coordinating Director Planning and Business Development, Mrs Nonyem Onyechi.

Mrs Onyechi stated that partnership on Science, Technology, Infrastructure and Innovation is key to national development and is the mandate of the Agency to make an enabling knowledge-driven environment for local mass production of standard parts, goods and services required for technological advancement.

She added that the Executive Vice Chairman is happy with the partnership and promised to engage both parties through a technical committee to fast-track the process.

On his part the Managing Director/Chief Executive of IMSA, Dr. Ibrahim Wada said the collaboration is timely due to the advent of dreaded diseases which is making it difficult to oversee treatment.

“If we have our machines in Nigeria, it will be easy for us to reduce the cost and improve our economy”.

Dr. Wada said IMSA is a leading non-governmental, not-for-profit medical institution in Nigeria, developing human capacity and influencing progressive deliberations on healthcare in Africa.

NASENI under the Presidency has been living up to its expectations due to the capable scientists, engineers and researchers trained locally and internationally to build the nation.
