The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has scheduled June 9 for the commencement of return flights for Nigerian pilgrims who participated in the 2025 Hajj.

The Chairman/CEO of NAHCON, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh, announced this in a statement issued in Minna on Friday while congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the festival of sacrifice.

Saleh said, “All praise belongs to Allah for the privilege of witnessing another Eid al-Adha, the celebration of sacrifice.

“On behalf of NAHCON, I heartily congratulate all Muslims on the occasion. We especially congratulate the fortunate pilgrims who witnessed the Day of Arafat.

“May Allah accept your prayers and sacrifices, and those of Muslims worldwide.

“The return journey for Nigerian pilgrims will begin on the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah, corresponding to June 9.”

He noted that the first return flights would include pilgrims from Imo State with Air Peace, Bauchi State with Max Air, and Kebbi and Sokoto States with Flynas.

He urged the first batch of pilgrims to prepare for their return and to pray for a smooth and successful return operation for all pilgrims.

Saleh also encouraged the Muslim faithful to reflect on the spiritual essence of the Hajj and the lessons it teaches.

“Remember the trust in Allah that Sayyidatuna Hajara had, which led to the miraculous emergence of Zamzam.

“Reflect on the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, who left his family in the desert, trusting solely in Allah. That obedience was rewarded with the flourishing city of Makkah.

“See how trust in Allah brought abundant blessings—provision, safety, and community—where none existed, in response to Prophet Ibrahim’s supplication,” he said.

He emphasised that trust in Allah, obedience to leadership, and discipline are keys to the prosperity of communities and nations.

“While celebrating the success of this year’s Hajj, I must commend the cooperation and orderly conduct of Nigerian pilgrims. Their patience and discipline made NAHCON’s job easier. We also appreciate the efforts of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards for their support and excellent coordination, which contributed greatly to the success of the operations.

“To our dedicated NAHCON staff—many of whom served pilgrims while in the state of ihram—your sacrifice is acknowledged. Your reward is with Allah.”

Saleh also praised NAHCON board members and ad-hoc staff for their unwavering commitment and service to the guests of Allah.

“We must not forget to acknowledge the strong support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima.

“Their contributions were instrumental in the smooth execution of this year’s Hajj operations. We also commend the excellent services experienced in the Mashair—Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.

“NAHCON remains committed to delivering even better outcomes with the continued support and cooperation of all stakeholders,” he said.
