The Katsina State Government has condemned the killing and burning of a man by youths in Kokami Village, Yakaji ‘A’ Ward of Danja Local Government Area, following a fatal stabbing.

The incident on 4 April 2026 began with a dispute between Ibrahim Khalil Auwal and Joe, also known as K.C. Jones, over the purchase of garri and sachet water at Joe’s shop. The argument reportedly escalated when Joe stabbed Auwal, who was taken to Abdullahi Makama Hospital in Dabai and later pronounced dead.

Following the stabbing, a group of youths in the community allegedly attacked Joe, killed him and set his body alight on the highway.

In a statement, the Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasir Muazu Danmusa, called the episode “deeply unfortunate” and condemned both the stabbing and the retaliatory killing. He said the matter arose from a personal dispute and warned against framing it as an ethnic or religious conflict, urging residents not to take the law into their own hands.

Authorities said those responsible would be identified and prosecuted. Security personnel have been deployed to the area to restore order and prevent further unrest.

The administration of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda extended condolences to the families of the deceased and appealed to community leaders and residents to uphold peace and lawful conduct.
