Zamfara All Progressive Congress support group has told Senator Orji Uzor Kalu that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can comfortably win re-election in 2027 without the support of Governor Dauda Lawal.

In a statement on Tuesday y, the group’s chairman, Muhammed Kabir Lawal, said key political figures in the state—Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle; Senator Abdulaziz Yari; and other APC members—are sufficient to deliver victory for the President.

According to Lawal, Governor Lawal has failed to earn the trust of the people and would be unable to secure even his own polling unit in the next general election.

“He cannot convince the people to vote for him because he has done nothing to warrant their support,” he stated.

He criticised the governor’s alleged reluctance to invite former governors and other high-ranking political figures to commission projects, suggesting it reflected his political insecurity.

“What he doesn’t realise is that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu cannot influence a single vote for him in Zamfara,” Lawal said, referring to Kalu’s recent appearance in the state.

Gusau further questioned Kalu’s political influence, stating, “This is the same senator who can’t guarantee votes for Tinubu in his own state but comes to Zamfara to ask Dauda to support the President.”

The group insisted that the APC in Zamfara is already strong enough to secure Tinubu’s re-election without Governor Lawal’s involvement.

“In a party where the President has the likes of Matawalle, Yari and other influential stakeholders, there’s no need for Dauda Lawal,” the statement added.

The group advised Senator Kalu to focus on his constituency projects and refrain from meddling in Zamfara politics.

Gusau hinted that Governor Lawal’s recent overtures to APC leaders under the guise of project commissioning may signal an interest in joining the party or forging closer ties with the President.

“Zamfara APC delivered Tinubu in 2023 and we’ll do it again in 2027, Insha Allah,” he said .
