Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has epresented the country at the 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul, Turkey.

The high-profile event opened on Tuesday, 22nd July, and will run until 27th July.

In a statement signed by its personal assistant on Media,Ahmad Dan-Wudil,on Wednesday , said “It brings together global defence leaders, military chiefs, contractors, and tech innovators.

“Matawalle’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to advancing its defence capabilities and strengthening international military partnerships”.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan officially opened the fair, welcoming participants from over 40 countries. Defence ministers and top military officials were in attendance.

Organised by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, with support from Turkey’s Ministry of National Defence, IDEF 2025 is one of the world’s largest defence exhibitions.

The fair features cutting-edge military technology, with emphasis on future warfare trends, advanced weaponry, and innovation in global security.

Over 1,000 exhibitors are showcasing new systems, offering opportunities for knowledge exchange and strategic collaboration.

For Nigeria, IDEF 2025 presents a platform to engage with global defence stakeholders, seek solutions to security challenges, and attract investment in modern military infrastructure.
