Manchester City kept the pressure firmly on Premier League leaders Arsenal after cruising to a commanding 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

The win ensured Pep Guardiola’s side maintained their pursuit of Arsenal as the season enters its decisive stages. While the Gunners remain top of the table, City’s comfortable victory reduced the gap and intensified the heat on Mikel Arteta’s men ahead of their remaining fixtures.

City controlled proceedings for much of the encounter, delivering a composed attacking display against a Palace side that struggled to cope with the hosts’ movement and possession.

The breakthrough arrived in the 32nd minute, when Antoine Semenyo finished clinically after combining with Phil Foden to give City a deserved lead.

City doubled their advantage eight minutes later through Omar Marmoush, whose effort from inside the penalty area took a deflection before beating Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The home side continued to dominate possession in the second half, limiting Palace to occasional counterattacking opportunities. Their superiority was eventually rewarded again in the 84th minute, when Savinho calmly slotted home from close range after a scramble inside the box to seal the emphatic victory.

Guardiola’s side displayed impressive control throughout, with midfield orchestrator Foden once again influential in attacking transitions, while City’s defensive unit comfortably contained Palace forwards Jean-Philippe Mateta and Brennan Johnson.

The result further boosts City’s momentum as they continue their pursuit of a fifth Premier League title under Guardiola.

For Crystal Palace, the defeat represents another setback in a difficult run, with manager Oliver Glasner left searching for consistency as the season approaches its conclusion.
