Livebridge Properties and Investment Limited, a prominent real estate and investment firm in Nigeria, marked the birthday of its Group Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Nwaneri Obinna Flaker, by reaching out to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the Karmajiji camp in Abuja. The company extended humanitarian assistance to over 1,000 residents, providing free medical care, food supplies, and other essential items for children, women, and the elderly.

Speaking during the outreach, Dr. Flaker stressed the importance of private organisations contributing to humanitarian causes. He noted that the government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of meeting the needs of displaced persons.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility, we adopted this IDP camp to ensure residents receive consistent support. On a day like this, my birthday, it brings me joy to share love with the less privileged,” Dr. Flaker remarked.

He further explained that many of the camp’s residents lack access to affordable healthcare and basic necessities. Some even require mobility aids such as wheelchairs. By providing these items, Livebridge hopes to ease the burdens faced by displaced families.

Also speaking, Faith Nwaneri Obinna, Director at Livebridge Properties, emphasised the significance of empowering women in underprivileged communities. She stated that poverty reduction becomes more achievable when women are equipped with resources and skills that enable them to support their families.

“If women are given access to skill acquisition programmes and essential resources, they can multiply the benefits and uplift their families. We urge the government and private organisations to invest in such initiatives for women across IDP camps,” she said.

At the event, Alice Ejembi, Head of Operations at Livebridge Properties, highlighted that the initiative is not an isolated event. According to her, the company has carried out similar outreach programmes in other IDP camps, including Kaura camp.

“It goes beyond food donations. We also conduct medical check-ups, distribute mobility aids like wheelchairs, and supply essential household items to ease daily challenges,” Ejembi explained.

The beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for Livebridge’s consistent support. Muhammad Dantini, one of the residents at Karmajiji camp, spoke on behalf of the community.

“Livebridge Properties has been assisting us for several years, and their support means so much to our families.
We really appreciate their help. May God bless them,” he said.
