In the dynamic landscape of Nigerian politics, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, known as “The Horse Rider,” has emerged as a prominent figure in the 10th Senate.
Leading the Senate Public Accounts Committee, he showcases his prowess and commitment to public service.
Elected under the Social Democratic Party SDP from Nassarawa state, Senator Wadada took office in June 2023, making significant strides within the Senate.
Senator Wadada’s political journey began as a former member of the House of Representatives in 2011, representing Keffi, Karu, and Kokona federal constituency of Nassarawa state.
Recognized for his agility, hard work, courage, and vocal stance, Senator Wadada actively participates in plenary sessions, committees, and special sessions, earning him acclaim through public opinion polls.
Senator Wadada’s tenure has seen the introduction of five impactful bills addressing crucial aspects:
Agriculture Research Council of Nigeria Act Amendment Bill, 2023 (SB.56): Advocating for the establishment of a School of Fisheries and Aquatic Science at Umaisha in Toto Local Government Area.
Audit Service Bill, 2023 (SB 132): Proposing reforms in auditing services for better governance.
Federal Land Registry (Miscellaneous Provision) Act Amendment Bill 2023 (SB 178): Focusing on land registry improvements.
Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 (SB.196): Enhancing investment promotion.
Motion on Law Enforcement: Urging action against illegal garages and pick-up/drop-off points in the FCT metropolis.
In addition to chairing the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, Senator Wadada actively participates in various committees, contributing to areas such as Marine Transport, Ecology and Climate Change, Agriculture, Employment, Foreign Affairs, Solid Minerals, Youth and Sports, among others.
Senator Wadada’s impact extends beyond legislation. In 2023, he advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the appointment of a substantive Auditor General of the Federation, aligning with constitutional requirements.
With the National Assembly’s upcoming session in January 2024, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu is poised to continue his impactful contributions, ensuring effective governance across diverse areas.
