Jalingo – The Agbu Kefas Continuity Movement has called on security agencies to urgently investigate an alleged assassination plot raised by Senator Emmanuel Bwacha during his recent declaration for the 2027 governorship race.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by its coordinator, Mallam Ibrahim Ardo, the group described the allegation as grave and potentially destabilising if left unverified.
According to the statement, Mr Bwacha claimed in his speech that unnamed political rivals were plotting to kill him, alleging that 15 young men had been tasked with executing the act.
The group argued that the claim risks injecting fear and tension into the political space and must not be ignored. It called on the senator to provide full details of the alleged plot, including the identities of the accused and any information on those reportedly involved, to enable security agencies to act decisively.
The movement noted that Taraba State has remained relatively peaceful, adding that the 2023 elections were conducted without politically motivated killings. It warned against any development that could trigger instability as the state approaches the 2027 polls.
Reaffirming its support for Governor Agbu Kefas’s peace-driven approach, the group stressed that political actors must uphold non-violent engagement and responsible communication. Unverified public allegations of this nature, it said, could heighten political tension if not properly addressed.
While wishing Mr Bwacha safety, the movement insisted that such serious claims must be supported by credible evidence. It urged security agencies to handle the matter with urgency and professionalism to safeguard law and order and sustain peace in Taraba State.
