A faith-based civil society organisation, the Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), has called on state pilgrims’ welfare boards to emulate the Kebbi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, which released its 2026 Hajj flight manifest well ahead of schedule.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Ibrahim Muhammad, the group hailed the move as a significant step towards transparency and operational efficiency. The IHR particularly commended the Executive Secretary, Alhaji Farouk Enabo, and his team for adhering to the directive of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on timely disclosure of travel schedules.

According to the IHR, publishing the manifest early—approximately 17 days before the airlift—enables pilgrims to plan effectively and alleviates unnecessary anxiety. “This development reflects a notable improvement in Nigeria’s Hajj management, especially in pre-airlift arrangements,” the statement read.

The organisation urged other states to adopt similar practices to enhance national coordination and overall service delivery. It also praised NAHCON for enforcing regulatory guidelines and ensuring compliance among stakeholders.

To maximise the benefits, the IHR called for sustained public enlightenment campaigns, ensuring pilgrims remain fully informed once their travel schedules are finalised.
