A group under the auspices of Southern Kaduna Professionals has urged the people of Kaduna South to support Barr. Sunday Marshal Katung stated that indicators show he has performed credibly better than other senators from Kaduna State within his eighteen months in office.
The group made this assertion in a press statement released to the media on Thursday by its National President, Arc. Samuel Yakubu, in Kaduna.
The group believes that Katung’s performance as the Senator representing the Kaduna South Senatorial District is the best in the history of Kaduna State.
Arc. Samuel, the leader of the group, appealed to the constituents of Kaduna South Senatorial District to continue supporting Katung’s vision for transforming the region rather than casting aspersions.
“Katung, as an opposition leader, initiated a new bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, which the President has since assented to; he deserves nothing but commendation and our full support.
“The Federal University represents a significant step towards fostering the economic development of our people, who have been marginalised and subjected to poverty over the years.
According to him, the University offers ample opportunity for Southern Kaduna sons and daughters to secure admission in professional courses they have been denied in other institutions.
“We must allow our legislators to focus on delivering their mandate to the people rather than engaging in politics for individual selfish interests,” Samuel stated.
He noted that Senator Katung, through his foundation, has empowered women and youths and awarded scholarships to hundreds of students, more than any other senator from the zone.
“Katung has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on our region’s democratic journey and will be remembered as one of the titans of our democracy.
“As a group, we are humbled by the magnitude of Senator Katung’s contributions and his clear vision. As we continue to reflect on his trajectory, we are reminded of the enduring strength of our democracy and the pivotal role he has played as a legislator for our region, standing on the threshold of history.
“His tenure has laid a foundation that will foster economic growth, social justice, and the welfare of our people.
He emphasised that his tenure is already marked by efforts to ensure the independence of our region, recognising that a truly democratic society thrives when its leaders operate without undue influence, freely articulating the will and aspirations of the people.
