The Kano State Government has inaugurated a high-powered committee to coordinate activities for the third anniversary celebration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.
The committee was inaugurated on behalf of the governor by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, at the Cabinet Office Conference Hall in Kano.
A statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s Press Secretary, Musa Tanko Muhammad, said the committee would organise programmes aimed at showcasing the achievements recorded by the administration in its first three years in office.
Speaking during the inauguration, Ibrahim said the anniversary celebration should be comprehensive and attract notable personalities from within and outside Kano State.
According to him, the administration has fulfilled a significant number of its campaign promises, especially in sectors that directly impact the lives of residents.
“The anniversary celebration will provide an opportunity to showcase the giant strides of the Gida Gida administration in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, environment, rural development and good governance,” he said.
The SSG, who also chairs the committee, stressed the need for effective publicity and proper documentation of the activities lined up for the event.
He disclosed that a commemorative brochure detailing the administration’s achievements would be produced to preserve records of the milestone celebration.
Members of the committee include the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Marwan Ahmad; Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya; Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf; Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr Dahir Muhammad Hashim; and Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Danjuma Mahmoud.
Others are the Commissioner for Education, Dr Gwani Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda; Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Abduljabbar Umar Garko; Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Abdulkadir Abdussalam; Special Adviser, Cabinet Office, Adda’u Lawan Kutama; and Director-General, Media and Publicity, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Also on the committee are the Director-General, Protocol, Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo; Director-General, Research and Documentation, Nana Asma’u Jibrin; Director-General, National Productivity Centre, Baffa Babba Dan Agundi; and Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso.
The Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs, Umar Muhammad Jalo, will serve as secretary of the committee.
The committee has been mandated to ensure a successful anniversary celebration reflecting the administration’s commitment to people-centred governance and sustainable development across the state.
