A federal lawmaker representing Kagarko/Kachia Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, Hon. Jagaba Adams Jagaba, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jagaba made his defection known in a letter addressed to the PDP leadership in Kurmin-Jibrin Ward, Kagarko Local Government Area, and made available to journalists on Friday.
The lawmaker explained that his decision to leave the PDP was driven by what he described as a visible transformation brought about by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Jagaba, past governments failed to address the pressing challenges in Southern Kaduna, particularly in areas of security and infrastructure.
He recalled sponsoring a bill in the National Assembly for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, which he said was ignored by the previous administration.
“In less than two years, President Tinubu has brought a new lease of life to our people by checkmating banditry, establishing a military base, and appointing our son as the Chief of Defence Staff,” Jagaba stated.
The lawmaker further noted that the recent approval for a Federal University in Kachia and a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan cemented his belief in Tinubu’s commitment to Southern Kaduna.
“If politics is truly about development and dividends of democracy, then President Tinubu has delivered for our people,” he said.
Jagaba described the president as his “soulmate” in the struggle for development and pledged to support him in securing a second term.
He thanked the PDP for the opportunity to serve but emphasised that his future political journey now lies with the APC.
