The Kaduna State Volleyball Association (KADSVA) on Monday honored the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, with an Award of Excellence at a ceremony held at the Media Center of Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS), Kaduna.
The event attracted dignitaries from across the nation, celebrating Nimrod’s remarkable contributions to volleyball in Kaduna State and Nigeria.
Lt. Col. J.G. Usman, Chairman of the Committee in Honour of Engr. Musa Nimrod, praised the honoree for his unwavering dedication and visionary leadership.
“Engr. Nimrod’s soul, spirit, and body are devoted to volleyball,” Usman said, highlighting how his efforts have elevated the sport to unprecedented heights, with national teams achieving success on the international stage.
“His influence and mentoring skills are invaluable. The Volleyball Community in Kaduna State trusts his leadership, which has significantly propelled the sport’s growth and development,” Usman added.
In his acceptance speech, Nimrod expressed surprise and gratitude for the recognition.
“I am humbled by this gesture. I applaud everyone working behind the scenes for volleyball’s progress in Nigeria,” he said, emphasizing the importance of integrity in the sport.
Under Nimrod’s leadership, Nigerian volleyball has seen transformative growth. Highlights include Nigeria’s qualification for multiple international competitions, the establishment of volleyball academies in all 36 states, and the sustained hosting of national and international tournaments.
As NVBF President since 2017, Nimrod has overseen initiatives such as the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League and grassroots programs that have supported over 100 volleyball communities nationwide.
His efforts have also extended to securing scholarships for athletes, constructing volleyball courts, and facilitating professional opportunities for players globally.
The award recognizes Nimrod’s unparalleled contributions, which have not only advanced volleyball in Nigeria but also positioned the country as a formidable contender in the global volleyball arena.
