The Chairman of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) State Level Working Group (SLWG) in Kaduna, Dr Terngu Gwar, has called on stakeholders—including government institutions, civil society, and the private sector—to prioritise improved working conditions, continuous capacity development, and the protection of workers’ rights.

“A just society begins with a workforce that is valued, protected, and empowered,” Dr Gwar said in a statement released to mark the annual Workers’ Day celebration on 1 May 2026.

He extended warm greetings and deep appreciation to all workers across Kaduna State and Nigeria, noting that the day serves as a reminder of the dignity of labour, the resilience of the Nigerian worker, and their collective contributions to national development.

Dr Gwar emphasised that within the criminal justice system, the pursuit of justice, fairness, and human rights is closely tied to the welfare of workers—particularly those in law enforcement, the judiciary, correctional services, and allied institutions.

“Your commitment to upholding the rule of law, often under challenging conditions, is both commendable and indispensable,” he said.

He also used the occasion to stress the importance of fully implementing the Administration of Criminal Justice Law in Kaduna State.

“A justice system that is efficient, transparent, and humane not only strengthens public trust but also ensures that those who work within it are supported by clear standards, accountability, and respect for human rights,” he explained.

Dr Gwar urged all stakeholders to place workers’ welfare at the centre of justice sector reforms.

“To every worker: your labour builds our society, sustains our institutions, and shapes our future. We stand with you today and always. Happy Workers’ Day,” he added.
