A judge has withdrawn from the fundamental human rights enforcement suit brought by former Kaduna State governor Nasir El‑Rufai, citing imminent leave. The file has been returned to the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court for reassignment.
The suit, lodged at the FCT High Court, alleges breaches of El‑Rufai’s fundamental rights, including an asserted unlawful entry into his Abuja home by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The case also references involvement by other agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS), in related legal matters.
Reports identify the withdrawing judge as Justice Hussaini Belgore. With his formal recusal, the case is temporarily stayed pending the Chief Judge’s selection and allocation of a new presiding judge.
No new hearing date has been set. Parties must await the FCT Chief Judge’s reassignment before substantive proceedings can resume.
