The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that candidates seeing “No Result Yet” on their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) outcome are underage applicants whose results are being withheld.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the board’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, clarified that the message does not signify a technical glitch but rather reflects the status of candidates who do not yet satisfy the age requirement for admission.

Dr Benjamin explained that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026 are eligible to register for and sit the UTME, except under special circumstances. Underage candidates may only qualify under an exceptional category if they demonstrate outstanding academic ability—specifically, scoring 320 or above in the UTME and attaining at least 80 per cent in subsequent screening exercises.

Only those who meet the 320 benchmark will be shortlisted for further screening, a condition that was reached and endorsed by the parents of the affected candidates.

“For now, results for underage candidates remain unreleased,” Dr Benjamin added.
